Flowers for Freedom
They gave him a flower
A smile and thanks
It's what they had to
give
He gave them all a future
In which liberty could live
A future without tyrants
To crush their children's bones
In which they
can dwell safely
At peace within their homes
He didn't have to be here
He is a volunteer
He could be safe at
home
Going out and drinking beer
But he knows deep in his heart
That freedom isn't free
So he joined the
greatest Army
The world will ever see
So this is his reward
A flower pays their debt
Though it may fade
tomorrow
The gratefulness in their smiles
Til his dying day
He will
never forget

Iraqis wave to
Marines in central Iraq Thursday afternoon. While on the road to Baghdad,
Marines were greeted by many Iraqis waving white flags from their cars and
trucks.
So much for taking up arms and fighting off the "American criminals". The Iraqi people know who the real criminal is: Saddam. --E_M_B

An M1A1 Abrams
tank from the 3rd Battalion, 69th Regiment Armor Task Force (Task Force 3-69)
moves across runways at Saddam International Airport in Baghdad.

Spc. John
Earle, right, of Weymouth, Mass., advances with his squad towards the VIP
terminal of Saddam Hussein International Airport during a dawn advance. Earle is
with the 3rd Infantry Division.

Four Iraqi men
place their hands on their heads as they surrender Thursday to Marines during
fighting in the town of Kut. Marines battled suicide attacks and fought at close
range with Republican Guard fighters and Baath Party irregulars Thursday in Kut,
but many civilians waved white flags and welcomed the troops.

Soldiers with
the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, move toward the main terminal of
Baghdad International Airport Friday as U.S. and Iraqi forces battled for
control of the strategic facility.

Ozymandius by Percy Bysshe Shelley
First Published in 1817
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said--"Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desart . . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandius, King of Kings,
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away."
Evermore.

Re your concerns about Mosques heavily guarded by thugs of a guy who has
desroyed plenty of Mosques and murdered millions of Moslems;
I strongly
suspect that there might be some kind of unpleasant surprise awaiting occupying
forces in there - potentially nuclear. How high over the terrain does a nuke
have to be for maximum effectiveness? How high are those minarette / steeple
towers beside every Mosque?
Aware of our sensitivity to religious
shrines, Saddamnites will know that if the whole rest of the city is leveled,
coalition forces will be very careful to leave the Mosques unscathed, and
occupying "Infidels" will probably not be allowed anywhere near one of them.
What better place to conceal a Soviet surplus City-Killer nuclear warhead?
Or a bunch of them?

of that footage before they were edited/cut?
Like the Iraqi Driver

(last man out pulls pin and flips what looks like a frag grenade down the main
hatch to finish her off before he jumps clear) and the foiled "surrender and
ambush" scam attempt of 3 Iraqi soldiers, where 2 of the 3 are mowed down with a
MG from one of the armored vehicles.
I hope we can get an "unedited"

Thanks, these reminders of the humanitarian side of our mission are so important. I went out to a mall here in Silicon Valley today, and there were several families shopping around who were probably from Arabic-speaking countries. Their kids were happy, and their smiles suddenly reminded me of the most important things we all share in common.
Hopefully our troops can get past the "shoot first and ask questions later"
phase in Iraq as soon as possible.

Too late for me, Nita. Already did it a couple of days ago. Was raving like a
maniac - SOOO frustrating to HAVE a picture, but cannot SEE it!
The
other night they showed the traffic circle in downtown Baghdad... Said we should
watch it so we could spot Coalition vehicles.... HA! All I could see was that
stupid banner!

Shock and awe is what heads of state around the world are experiencing! LOL.
Don't mess with America, is the message they are receiving! I love this thread,
Diogenesis. Thank you.

In Umm Khayyal, Iraq, at the soccer game with the 42 Commandoes.
The
local team won.
Uh oh. Good thing they're not teaching them cricket, eh?

Wow, what a picture show! That shot of Pfc. Lynch and her fallen buddy was
heart-wrenching. Pfc. Piestawa was Hopi and a third generation soldier. Her
family called her a "warrior." When I think of the loss of people like her in
contrast to someone like that Professor DeGenova over at Columbia, it makes me
seethe inside.

Let Freedom Ring!
I have to believe that if he were alive today, Martin Luther King would be
attending Support Our Troops rallies.

US Army soldiers reveal and remove extensive ammunition that was found in a wrecked and abandoned ambulance. The Red Cross/Crescent ambulance again had rocket launchers and grenades hidden in the bed rolls and medical supplies.
:
Don't forget the whole name of the organization:
INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS/RED CRESCENT

Donations help fund organizations like the Palestinian Red Crescent Society,
which cranks out propaganda like this:
Israeli Army Shoots at Innocent Civilians & Pregnant Mothers
Isn't it comforting to know that the selfless contributions
of well-meaning Americans are going to support these "Red Crescent Societies"?
