Brit Hume on Special Report (FoxNews channel) is supposed to have a special
about the "good" that has been accomplished in Iraq.
Steve Harrigan, FN
reporter, just returned from news duty in Iraq. He mentioned this morning on Fox
and Friends that Brit would be doing this special on Special Report.
FYI. Special Report with Brit Hume is due to air in about 35 minutes on
FoxNews Channel.

It's been mighty popular with those attending NZ *All Blacks* Rugby matchs.
Not real funny if those people doing that little dance might be out to kill you. And eat you.
It impresses the heck out of the Gurkhas, and those lads are not easily impressed. Some of them have learned it and are pretty good at it too. Of course, they're also known to be fond of the bagpipe....
The All Blacks performed the *Ka Mate* Haka in France during a game there a year or so back. I'm amazed France didn't just flat-out surrender to New Zealand....

The 'Haka' dance, for some reason, reminds me of the 'macarena'..
You need to catch it in a troopies canteen, with Gurkhas as the audience. And then watch as they get up and show their version, with the big knives coming out, and fitting right in.
The Kiwi Maoris and the Gurkhas got along amazingly well; REAL scary idea, that. Not that *Gurkha* and *Rugby* used in the same sentence is a particularly settling thought....

There might be a couple of Kiwis among the troops of the French Foreign Legion. Like the Germans, the Swiss and even the Belgians, [who are des tireurs au Cul] the English-speaking Johnnies, who may have some Kiwi-flavoured accents among their number, will save France from its external enemies. But they can't save France from itself.

The story goes that the Army actually prefers larger Fijians for their rugby team, and I don't doubt for a second that they're at least the equal of the Gurkhas as individuals; see the accounts of Sergeant Labalaba at Mirbat for just one example; IMHO he should have gotten the VC for what he did. And the Gurkhas do indeed consider picking fights with their Fijian counterparts to be great sport, as they do engaging in little affrays and sporting tiffs with those of the SAS Regiment. The Gurkhas have some peculiar ideas about recreation, but they're certainly game and sporting about it.
But you can see a transcript of some of the Parliamentary discussion on the
subject on the subject *here*.

Heard a joke about the French Foreign Legion basically being outsiders who
would defend France because France is incapable of it.
*chuckle*
Wonder if they'll take over France to save France?
It'd be an interesting development.
A group of warriors in control of France..
That'd be horrific to them.
You're right though.
It'll never happen, they wouldn't be able to save France from itself.
